De Nederlands-Turkse rapper Murda is dinsdag in Turkije veroordeeld tot een celstraf van pak'em beet vier jaar en twee maanden. Deze straf krijgt hij voor songteksten waarin hij het gebruik van cannabis aan zou sporen. De rapper heeft al laten weten dat hij in hoger beroep gaat tegen de straf.
Önder Doğan, beter bekend dus onder zijn artiestennaam Murda, zegt in een verklaring dat hij slecht nieuws heeft gekregen. De rapper was niet naar Turkije gevlogen voor de zaak die tegen hem liep, omdat hij in Nederland druk bezig is met opnames van een nieuw album.
Murda werd vorig jaar aangehouden op het vliegveld van Istanbul. De rapper zat korte tijd vast omdat er een onderzoek was gestart naar zijn songteksten waarin het gebruik van cannabis zou worden aangespoord. Het Turkse OM had vijf tot tien jaar tegen hem geëist. Via.
"Whatsup everybody. Hope everyone is doing good. I just received a phone call from my lawyer because he went to court for me today. Unfortunatly i received bad news. The judge said that I’m guilty and charged me with 4 years and 2 months. There is a lot going on in my head and there are a lot of things that I want to say. I made some songs back in the days. These songs were released and they reached millions of people. I performed these songs for my audience in concerts and my fans sang all the songs with me. We laughed and danced together to all these songs. The songs are also loved by people that don’t speak the Turkish language. Those people started to sing/rap Turkish words after listening to my music. A beautiful thing that ends up getting such ugly results is a sad thing. The judge thinks that, because of these songs my daughter deserves to grow up without her father for 4 years and 2 months. Same goes for my family. I will never understand or agree with this. Very sad. For the youths that listen to my music, artists in general that want to express themselves freely. The people that want to see me peform these songs. Nobody can ever question how much I love Turkey and how proud I am to be Turkish. All of this is just really sad. I’d like to thank everybody supporting me from the bottom of my heart. I love y’all.
